What's New at the Monterey Aquarium

A new exhibit that opened at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Monday  examines the effects of climate change on marine life, an aquarium spokeswoman said.
     
Titled "Hot Pink Flamingoes: Stories of Hope in a Changing Sea,"  the exhibit presents facts about climate change around the world through the stories of live animals, such as wading birds, sea turtles, penguins and  tropical fish, spokeswoman Karen Jeffries said.
     
Ocean wildlife such as the scarlet and white ibis, Chilean  flamingoes, cattle egrets and Magellanic penguins will be exhibited for the first time at the aquarium.
     
The exhibit combines a display of live animals, video footage of communities that tackling climate change, as well as interactive stations that allow visitors to share their thoughts about the issue.
     
The exhibit runs through 2012 and is free with regular admission to the aquarium.
