Memorial Grows for East San Jose Woman Stabbed to Death

A memorial of candles and flowers dotted the driveway of a woman who was fatally stabbed in the middle of the afternoon, making her San Jose's 13th homicide victim of the year.

Still, on Wednesday, police hadn't released any clues about why the woman would have been killed just before 3 p.m. Tuesday at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Jose Figueres in East San Jose, several blocks south of the Regional Medical Center.

The Santa Clara County Coroner has not identified the woman who neighbors said had a baby and twin girls.

Neighbors told NBC Bay Area the woman had lived in the apartment complex for just a few months. She kept to herself and was usually seen taking walks with her baby, neighbors said. Neighbor Mirna Luna said the woman also had twin girls.

Tuesday's homicide has area residents on edge.

The area was the scene of a Thanksgiving Day stabbing last year. Police said a man stabbed three people nearby on Luz Avenue. The victims all survived their injuries, but the suspect was fatally shot by police as he tried to get away.
