    A 2.9 magnitude earthquake struck near Berkeley Saturday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

    The temblor struck around 8:44 a.m., about 1.6 miles just east of Berkeley and closer to Southside, the USGS said. 

    Further information was not immediately available.
