Fall asleep in San Francisco and wake up in Los Angeles. That's the concept that SleepBus has championed to make travel up and down the coast both cost effective and time efficient.
For $48 per one-way trip, travelers have been able to take a snooze while they are transported between the two cities during the middle of the night. Passengers are tucked away in their own personal, private bunk beds, according to the SleepBus website.
The hitch? At least for now, the trips, launched in April, are so popular that the company can't keep with up with supply and demand. SleepBus is not currently not taking any more reservations until they can add more buses into the fleet, which the company hopes will be by Aug. 15.
The 12-passenger chartered buses, which act as a hybrid between a commercial truck and trailer, leave either city promptly at 11 p.m. and arrive at their destination around 6 a.m. For those folks who want to keep snoozing upon arrival, they are allowed to stay on board until 9 a.m.
Each passenger is equipped with a bed, privacy screen, power outlets, reading light and access to wireless internet, the SleepBus website says.
Prices are expected to rise to $65 per trip in August, according to Tech Insider.
