Stop Junk Mail in San Jose Kicks Off

The city of San Jose wants residents to stop junk mail, before it ever reaches their mailbox.

The "Stop Junk Mail San Jose" campaign aims to cut down on the number of catalogs that end up in the trash or recycling bin.

The campaign uses the online service "catalog choice" where people can submit their address and opt out of mailings from specific companies.

Campaign organizers say opting out of the mailings saves trees, and reduces the recycling load and greenhouse gases.
