Driver Arrested After Cab Strikes Hydrant, Water Gushes 60 Feet Into Air

A cab crashed into a fire hydrant early Tuesday morning in the Tenderloin, sending water shooting about six stories high in to the air.

The cab struck the hydrant about 1 a.m. near the intersection of Hyde and O'Farrell streets, after police said it was hit by another car.

The accident caused a wet mess, but no one reported any injuries.

A collision between the taxi and a sedan sent the taxi into the fire hydrant, authorities said.

The driver of the sedan was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after the crash.
