Downtown SJ Won't Go Hungry

Safeway Moving in

People trying to make a life out of living downtown will now finally have some sustenance.

After much speculation, Safeway is finally moving into The 88, a new high rise downtown.

According to the San Jose Business Journal, the Redevelopment Agency can only go forward with the project if the city approves $1.85 million for a parking elevator to shuttle shoppers to the garage below the building.

The City Council will consider the request Feb. 24.

The new store would be called The Market, and itโ€™s predicted it would create almost 80 jobs and bring millions to the area over time.
