Female Suspect Steals Cop Car

Concord police had her back in custody forthwith.

A woman, arrested on suspicion of thieving a car and having drugs, got behind the arresting officer's steering wheel and, allegedly, drove off with it while handcuffed. She then made a run for it -- continuing what could be classified as a "spree." The official release is below:

On November 23, 2011 at about 10:30 PM, Concord Officers stopped a suspected stolen vehicle on Farm Bureau Rd. near Chestnut Ave.

During the Officers’ investigation, an adult female was arrested for possession of stolen property and illegal drug possession. The female was handcuffed and seated inside an unmarked police car.

The female gained access to the driver’s seat of the car and drove off.

CPD units converged on the area and the vehicle was located within three (3) minutes, about one mile away from the scene of the vehicle stop.

The female suspect was subsequently spotted by Officers running on Wren Ave. near North 6th St., and she was taken back into custody by Officers after she attempted to hide inside a nearby home.

There were no reported injuries or vehicle collisions caused during this incident. All aspects of this case are being actively investigated. To maintain the integrity of the investigation, we are not releasing any further details at this time.
