A 10-year-old girl was held at gunpoint and forced to watch robbers ransack her home late Monday, police said.
Officers spent Tuesday canvassing the area of an apartment complex on Ranchero Way searching for clues and witnesses to the brazen crime. Residents in the area are still in shock over the home invasion.
"It really does scare me because I have a daughter of my own," said Marina, a former neighbor who did not want her last name published. "So that's really scary."
The family that was robbed told police the crime began with a simple knock on the door.
"And immediately two suspects entered the property, brandishing handguns," San Jose Police Department spokesman Albert Morales. "One of the suspects grabbed a hold of a 10-year-old female, grabbed her around the neck, pointed a gun at her temple and demanded property and cash."
Family members told police they did not know the suspects and were cooperative in their demands. Police said the robbers were impatient and one of the suspects began ransacking the apartment.
"While one of the suspects held the 10-year-old girl in his arms with the gun to her head, he made statements to the family and also to the girl basically threatening her safety," Morales said.

Police said the two men fled into a vehicle, where two other men were waiting, before leaving the scene.
In addition to being shaken, residents said they were upset to hear of the crime.
"For someone to put a child in that position, that's really heartless," Marina said.
Police are not releasing many details due to an ongoing investigation.
The four men are described to be in their 20s and fled in a small, dark four-door sedan.
Police said the girl is physically OK and is trying to recover from the incident.
