Officers responded to gunshots in the 200 block of Locust Street at about 12:30 a.m. morning and found Pauly Silva, of Santa Cruz, who had been shot numerous times.

A 32-year-old man was fatally shot in Santa Cruz in what police believe may have been a gang-related killing Saturday morning.

Officers responded to gunshots in the 200 block of Locust Street at about 12:30 a.m. and found Pauly Silva, of Santa Cruz, who had been shot numerous times. Silva died at the scene.

Police said witnesses told them they had seen a gray or green 1990s Mercedes driving near the scene around the time when Silva was shot.

Soon after, Watsonville police found a similar vehicle and detained the two people inside, both of whom are known Norteño gang members, police said.

Police also arrested a third person who already had warrants out for their arrest. That person is being questioned by police.

Police today were continuing to investigate any connection between the suspects and the victim.

Anyone who might have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Santa Cruz Police Department at (831) 420-5815.
