Person Shot Multiple Times, Injured at Rockridge BART Station in Oakland

A person was shot multiple times Saturday evening at the Rockridge BART station in Oakland, BART police said.

Police received several 911 calls at about 6:30 p.m. to report shots fired in the parking lot, Lt. Michael Hayes said.

Oakland and BART police officers found evidence of gunshots and learned that the suspects fled into the surrounding neighborhood, he said.

Officers set up a perimeter around the area and detained one suspect who was interviewed by detectives, Hayes said.

Police found the victim inside a vehicle on a nearby city street, he said, adding that the victim's injuries are not considered life-threatening.

As of Sunday morning, police were still on the lookout for a second suspect who is believed to be on the run.
