Road Trip From Bay Area to Los Angeles for Summer Food Specials

Discover Los Angeles

A summer culinary tradition in Los Angeles has been planned with road-tripping Bay Area food lovers in mind this year.

Southern California's version of a restaurant week is called dineL.A. and actually takes place over two weeks, from July 14 to July 28. This year's theme is a summer road trip and includes a suggested dining guide with hopes that culinary enthusiasts from as far as the Bay Area will take the opportunity to try buzzed-about restaurants at a discount while discovering areas like Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, West Hollywood and coastal cities like Manhattan Beach and Marina del Rey.

This year's installment features three tiers of prices for multi-course meals at participating restaurants: Two-course lunches for $15-25, three-course dinners for $29-49 and, for the first time, exclusive series dinners starting at $95 at places that typically charge triple-figure prices, including Otium, which features the work of former French Laundry chef Timothy Hollingsworth. Among the 350 participating eateries are businesses with Bay Area roots such as Belcampo, Bourbon Steak and Farmshop.

A social media contest will award one winner 100,000 miles on an airline so they can choose to fly south next time.
