A social worker from Child Protective Services had taken the girl to the bathroom when Moreira allegedly vanished with the boy. Police said the girl also disappeared when the social worker was searching for the mother and her baby.

Police issued an Amber Alert and said Moreira was likely headed to Colorado Springs in El Paso County, Colorado. Sheriff's officials from the county contacted San Jose police today and said the two kids were believed to be at a house in the area.

Deputies responded to the house and found the two children unharmed. Moreira was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment and kidnapping, according to police.
