Vallejo Mother Sets Herself on Fire, Killing Twin Daughters: Police

The death of a mother and her two twin daughters at a Vallejo house fire Sunday has been determined as a murder-suicide, Vallejo police said Thursday.

On Wednesday, dozens of friends and family held a candlelight memorial the Georgia Street home of Mao Dao and her 14-year-old twins, Trinh and Tram Tran.

"It's been really heartwarming these past three days to see everyone coming together for them," said Mililani Jimenez, a friend of the victims.

Wednesday's vigil was the third held this week. The girls' former wrestling coach, Jason Guiducci, hosted an event for the Tran sisters on Tuesday.

"They brought so much joy, so much talent and grace, and beauty to our community that's so often needed," Guiducci said.

Family members at Wednesday's memorial said the youngest of the Tran family, an 11-year-old girl who survived Sunday's house fire, is in good condition.

A friend of the family previously told NBC Bay Area the girls' father was out of the country and may have left to Vietnam a few days before the fire. The surviving daughter is now with her father and she's expected to make a full recovery, according Vallejo police.

Anyone with any further information regarding the fire is encouraged to call Detective Yates and Detective Poyser of the Vallejo Police Department Detective Division at 707-648-4080.
