Obama to GOP: Don't Let Budget Fight Torpedo Security

President Barack Obama defended his new $4 trillion budget proposal amid Republican criticism on Monday, arguing that the country's economic security and national security are intertwined. "Our economy flourishes when our country is safe and secure," the president said in his Monday speech at the Department of Homeland Security. "Don't jeopardize our national security over this disagreement." Congressional Republicans last year passed a spending measure that only funded Homeland Security through February because of GOP objections to the president's executive actions on immigration.
