Angels Shell Zito

Barry Zito looked a lot like last year's version of Barry Zito on Monday night.  The lefty who has been pitching much better this season, was knocked out early in a 9-7 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

After a first inning where Zito looked sharp, the wheels quickly fell off.  Trailing 1-0 going into the fourth, Zito gave up six runs, and was unable to get out of the inning.  The outing (3.2 IP) is his shortest of his season.  The seven runs allowed are the most he has given up this year.  The ten hits match the most he has given up this season.  All in all, it was Zito's worst performance of 2009, and snaps the Giants three game winning streak.

One bright spot for the Giants was the way team battled back after falling behind 8-0.  Pablo Sandoval hit two home runs, and Andres Torres got a splash hit to spark the offense.

The Giants will try to even up the series Tuesday night when Jonathan Sanchez faces the Angels.
