Matt Chapman and Khris Davis Power A's to Fifth Straight Win

OAKLAND - Matt Chapman and Khris Davis provided all the offense the A's would need Saturday night. They each clubbed solo home runs in the third inning, as Oakland beat the Detroit Tigers 2-1 for their fifth straight win. The victory put the A's a season-high 20 games over .500 at 66-46.

Davis' homer was his 30th of the season, tying Mike Trout for third-most in MLB. His 85 RBI rank second in the AL. Davis became the first Athletic to hit 30 or more home runs in three straight seasons since Miguel Tejada from 2000 to 2002. He is only the 11th with 30 or more home runs in three different seasons.

Chapman's homer was his 14th long ball of the season, and he also tripled. He has now reached base in a career-high 20 consecutive games. Chapman is batting .356 (26-for-73) during that stretch. Here's what else you need to know from Saturday night...

--- Edwin Jackson earned his third win of the season, and the 101st of his career. He allowed only an unearned run in 6 1/3 innings. Jackson surrendered five hits and a walk, and struck out three. For the season, the veteran right-hander is 3-2 with an impressive 2.87 ERA.

--- Ramon Laureano recorded an outfield assist for the second straight game to start his big-league career, throwing out Mike Gerber attempting to extend a single into a double. Laureano led all of Triple-A with 13 outfield assists this season. He is the first player in Oakland A's history with an outfield assist in each of his first two games in the majors.

--- The bullpen was lights out as usual, as Blake Treinen and Lou Trivino combined for 2 2/3 scoreless innings. Treinen earned his 28th save of the season and lowered his ERA to a ridiculous 0.95. Trivino's ERA isn't far behind at 1.18.

--- Marcus Semien stole his 12th base of the season, matching his career high. His 12 steals lead the A's this season. Semien also went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.
