Buster Posey has done a lot for the city of San Francisco, and he'd like to finish his storied career with the Giants.
"Obviously, that's my goal," Posey told John Shea in Miami for All-Star Weekend. "That's what I would like to do."
Posey has been an integral member of all three of the Giants recent World Series teams, piling up individual awards along the way. Rookie of the Year in 2010, Posey was MVP two years later and is currently on his fifth trip to the All-Star Game. He also has three Silver Sluggers and a Gold Glove.
"It's based on success we've had," explained Posey. "I feel a connection with the city, with the fans. It's home for my kids, and it'll be home for them. Obviously, things can change. But I would love nothing more than that.
"I think I'm OK at this point in my career where my agent's not going to get mad at me for saying that," he added.
Posey, 30, is hitting .324 this season with 10 home runs and 35 RBI. Despite his success, the Giants are 27 games out of first in the NL West.

"Obviously, we're surprised," Posey said. "We didn't anticipate to be where we are at this point. What are you going to do? What's happened so far is done with. All we can try to do is get some momentum in the second half and hopefully take that into next year."
Posey's lengthy contract extension keeps him in Orange and Black through the 2021 season with a club option for 2022.
