Source: New Clippers Forward Breaks Thumb After Fighting in Friendly Game

Update (3:45 p.m.): A source has confirmed to NBC Sports Bay Area that Danilo Gallinari has suffered a broken right thumb.

Exhibition games are also known as a "friendly." Someone might need to let Danilo Gallinari know that. 

The Clippers forward got into a scuffle while playing for the Italian national team against the Dutch as he tried to get position for a rebound during a free throw and went into full fight mode. Gallinari got aggressive with Jito Kok and took a swing with his right hand at Kok's face.

According to EuroHoops.net, the Italian Federation announced that Gallinari fractured his right hand. But there are conflicting reports. 

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN repoerts Gallinari suffered a right thumb injury and no surgery is required. He's expected to be ready for training camp. 

Gallinari, 28, signed a three-year, $65 million deal with the Clippers as part of a three-team sign-and-trade during the offseason.
