Draymond Wants Durant to Be More Aggressive; Durant Responds

Three games into the preseason schedule, Kevin Durant is averaging 18.3 points in 23.3 minutes per game, which translates to about 28 points every 36 minutes.

Moreover, the newest Warriors All-Star has gotten more accurate and more productive each game, improving from 2-for-9 shooting the opener to 6-for-10 in the second game to 8-of-11 Thursday night against Sacramento.

At least one of new Durant’s teammates wants more from the four-time scoring champion.

“He’s definitely getting more and more comfortable,” Draymond Green said after a 105-96 victory over the Kings as SAP Center. “I think he still needs to be more aggressive. But that will all come with time.”

That’s right, Green, a key member of the Warriors’ efforts to recruit Durant, is urging the 6-foot-9 small forward to further insert himself in the offense.

Durant wasn’t completely buying it, but he did make a concession.

“There were a couple shots I passed up,” he said. “But for the most part, I just try to be efficient with the shots I do get. I hate when I make silly turnovers.

“I felt I was aggressive. But if I want to be more aggressive, it’s not even just to score. It’s to screen and get guys open and move my body a little bit more.”

Durant’s scoring average ranks second on the team, behind Klay Thompson’s 19.0 points per game. At 3.7 assists per game, he is tied for second behind Stephen Curry’s 4.3.

Durant has scored 55 points on 30 field-goal attempts, a level of efficiency that would delight any teammate or coach.
