Giants Take Two of Three in Cincinnati

Team heads to Mile High next

The hope of a Giants' sweep in Cincinnati came to an abrupt end in the bottom of the 10th inning Thursday.

Drew Stubbs hit his first career home run to lead off the inning, giving the Reds a 2-1 victory.

The Giants now head to Colorado for yet another four game series.  The team is finally on the back end of a marathon road trip.

The Giants starter Matt Cain threw great for eight innings but did not walk away with a win.

Cain only allowed one run and eight hits.

As for the winning run. Stubbs drove a 2-0 pitch from Bob Howry (1-6) off left-field foul screen to stop Cincinnati's five-game skid.

Francisco Cordero picked up the win.

The Giants as still "in this thing" as the marketing team keeps telling us.  We are talking about the Wild Card race.

The team is just 1 1/2 games back with just over six weeks left in the season.

The team ahead of the Giants is none other than the Rockies and that should make for a great series this weekend.
