Dodgers infielder Max Muncy isn't backing down from Giants ace Madison Bumgarner.
"I hit the ball and he yelled at me," Muncy told Sportsnet LA's Alanna Rizzo. "He said 'Don't watch the ball. You run.' And I just responded back, 'If you don't want me to watch the ball, you can go get it out of the ocean."
Let's overlook that the fact that McCovey Cove isn't the ocean, it's a bay. That's a great comeback by Muncy.
Muncy launched a 426-foot dinger into the San Francisco Bay, and he knew it the moment he hit it. He walked out of the batter's box and Bumgarner took exception to that.
It's just another incident in a long line of them in which Bumgarner gets mad at a hitter for showing emotion.
Muncy knows all about Bumgarner's history with former Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig, and doesn't want to take the torch from Puig.

"He kept mouthing off," Muncy said. "I told him to come get it.' But you know, he's a competitor and he was just fired up about it, but I definitely hope this doesn't turn into a Puig thing because I don't want it on my shoulders."
Bumgarner and Muncy don't have to wait long for their next meeting as the Giants and Dodgers play a four-game series in LA starting June 17.
