The Raiders stunned everyone by taking Clemson defensive end Clelin Ferrell with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
It appears to be a reach. And even the Raiders' brass likely knows it.
NFL Network's Mike Silver reported that Raiders general manager Mike Mayock conducted a mock-draft exercise earlier this week at the team facility and took Ferrell with the No. 13 pick after trading down from No. 4 with the Miami Dolphins.
So, Mayock could have traded down and still picked Ferrell, by his own estimation.

Additionally, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that some teams had a second-round grade on Ferrell.

Mayock's first Raiders draft pick was a surprising one, and it likely won't sit well with the team's fans. But Mayock has two more picks in the first round to make up for it.
