Shark Player Headed to Minors

Sharks forward Torrey Mitchell has joined San Jose's top minor league affiliate for a conditioning assignment in his comeback from a preseason leg injury.

Mitchell, the Sharks' top rookie last season with 20 points, hasn't played this year after breaking both bones in his lower left leg during San Jose's second practice of training camp last September. He has been back at practice with San Jose since Dec. 23.

There's no timetable for Mitchell's return from the Worcester Sharks, San Jose coach Todd McLellan said Wednesday.

Sharks defenseman Brad Lukowich was back with the club Wednesday after undergoing surgery on Monday on a sports hernia. The veteran is expected to return shortly after the All-Star break.
