Who'll Be Giants' Manager? List of Possible Bruce Bochy Replacements

Everyone wants to know who the next manager of the Giants will be.

But the reality is that we won't know for a few months,

President of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi is going to take his time trying to find the successor to Bruce Bochy.

Dodgers bench coach and former A's manager Bob Geren reportedly is the only known candidate for the job that is opening for the first time since 2006.

But a few publications are throwing names out as possible candidates. Some might make Giants fans cringe, and others will make them smile.

ESPN.com listed five people who currently hold very different jobs:

Giants bench coach Hensley Meulens
Dodgers bench coach and former A's manager Bob Geren
Dodgers special assistant/baseball ops Raul Ibanez
Angels special assistant to GM Eric Chavez
Yankees bench coach Josh Bard

Meulens has been interviewing for open managerial positions for the last few years, so it's a role he's been preparing for. A native of Curacao, Meulens has been on the Giants' coaching staff for 10 seasons. He's paid his dues and is likely ready to take the next step. But Zaidi might want a clean start with someone he has a connection to.

The Athletic's Andrew Baggarly presented a much longer list that includes a few of the names mention above (but not Meulens):

Cubs manager Joe Maddon
Phillies manager Gabe Kapler
Braves third base coach Ron Washington
A's manager Bob Melvin
Yankees bench coach Josh Bard
Cubs bench coach Mark Loretta
A's quality control coach Mark Kotsay
Phillies player information coordinator Sam Fuld
Angels special assistant to GM Eric Chavez
Cubs first base coach Will Venable
Red Sox bench coach Ron Roenicke
Dodgers bench coach Bob Geren
Former Nebraska Cornhuskers head baseball coach Darin Erstad
MLB Network analyst Mark DeRosa

Zaidi will have a lot of resumes to sift through. This process will take a long time and it won't be an easy choice.

The guy Zaidi hires might be on the lists above, or it could be someone not mentioned.
