It shouldn't have been a surprise, but there was the sound of collective jaws dropping in Hollywood when The Hollywood Reporter claimed that "Jersey Shore's" Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino would make $5 million in 2010.

But that's seems to be the tally, with the possibility of doubling that paycheck in 2011. So his manager says.

Remember the days when anyone in the neighborhood of $5 million dollars would have bionic strength and make really cool sounds when he ran.

Now we have The Situation and the amazingly popular show which keeps building popularity and record audience into its second season. This train wreck has legs and the Situation looks to ride it for every cent he can pull out of it.

"People told him to enjoy his 15 minutes of fame and that he wouldn't last," his manager Mike Petolino said. "I think we can agree he's extended it to at least 17."

Here's the breakdown of the best items:

* Sorrentino is earning close to $60,000 per episode after bonus incentives
* Event appearances range from $15,000 to $60,000. Why the difference? Who knows? Perhaps it has something to do with the number of times he whips his shirt off.
* However hard to believe, The Situation allegedly received a six-figure advance. That's a lot of pictures.
* Now this makes sense: the Situation has several products based around his much-viewed six packs including an abs-focused video, "The Situation Workout."
* Sorrentino has trademarked "The Situation" and other key phrases.

All of this is not bad for a guy who was making $35,000 as a gym manager in Staten Island before the lucky break.
