Google Glass Priced at $1,500, Pre Orders Begin

While the world awaited Google to introduce a new tablet computer Wednesday, the Internet giant outdid its own headlines by announcing it was taking pre order for its Google Glass project.

The Mountain View-based technology company announced at its I/O event Wednesday that its augmented reality glasses would sell for $1,500 and they would begin shipping early next year.

But techies eager to view the world behind the guise of the Internet don't have to wait until 2013 to start dream.

Google also announced that it would start taking pre orders on the glasses from Google I/O developers.

Company co-founder Sergey Brin said the glasses will come with a touchpad, a microphone, a speaker and a button on the side to control the glasses.

Brin also said the glasses are a work in project and that Google is relying on developers to help them perfect the technology.
