Obama to Dine with Apple, Google, Facebook CEOs

The last time President Obama was in San Francisco to dine it cost $30,000 to have a seat at that table -- or at least a spot in the host's house (Google VP Marissa Mayer).

This time there's no word on the fundraising aspect, but the guest list is leaking out, according to Silicon Alley.

Apple's Steve Jobs, Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg, Google's Eric Schmidt, Intel's Paul Otellini and former GE executive Paul Immelt (what is this, a grudge poker match?) will break bread with the leader of the free world before he heads to Oregon to visit an IBM plant.

Bloomberg adds this about the list:

The president will discuss the U.S. economy and job creation with the executives as he promotes the $3.7 trillion budget he released this week that aims to keep up government funding for education and research.

Silicon Valley is seen as the inheritor of past American economic engines like steel and oil.

Employment and innovation go hand-in-hand, according to the president, and as the administration reaches out to the business community, dinners like this can only bolster the Valley's position.
