Musician Jerry Garcia was best known for his work with the band the Grateful Dead. Garcia was born on August 1, 1942 and died August 9, 1995 at the age of 53.
Jerry Garcia is the inspiration for a fresh brew.
Workingman's Ale is a new limited edition beer developed in honor of the late Grateful Dead legend by longtime fans High Water Brewing's Steve Altimari and Dave McLean of Haight Street establishments Magnolia and Alembic. It's named after the 1970 Grateful Dead album Workingman's Dead.
You can try it tonight (Aug. 5) at Public House at AT&T Park in honor of Grateful Dead Night.
Amazingly, this isn't the only way you should be able to toast to Jerry Garcia this year. We told you about Dogfish Head Craft Brewery's Grateful Dead beer back in January; the flavor should be in stores by October.
