Adam Lambert to Headline Miami Beach Gay Pride Festival

The former American Idol will receive a key to the city from the Miami Beach mayor.

In what will be his first "pride" performance, singer Adam Lambert will headline this weekend's Miami Beach Gay Pride Festival.

Lambert will take the festival's main stage Sunday at 8 p.m. off 11th Street and Ocean Drive.

The former American Idol contestant took questions about his time in Miami from fans and the media Saturday at Lummus Park.

"The energy's really high and everybody's feeling kind of unified," Lambert said. "I think that's going to be a very nice family feel for the show."

He said it has become more important than ever for him to connect with the gay and lesbian community.

"People are really excited that our voices are being heard," Lambert said. "It's becoming main stream."

Lambert will receive a key to the city from Miami Beach Mayor Matti Bower at the festival.

Although Lambert did not give any details about a new album on Saturday, he did say there is "something on the horizon."
