"New Doctor, new era, and of course, new clothes. Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over--Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you!"

We couldn't have said it better ourselves, Steven Moffat.

Finally, "Who" fans, we've got the first look at the actual costume Peter Capaldi will wear when he finally takes his turn as the Doctor later this year, and it's a far cry from Matt Smith's adorably ragged hipster garb. Gone are the bowtie, the short pants, the tweed, and that trademark floppy hair. Instead, Peter Capaldi's Doctor (along with "Doctor Who" costume designer, Howard Burden) seems to have both visited an upscale department store and a tailor in the search for the perfect outfit.

We're thinking perhaps showrunner Steven Moffat saw the success of the blue wool coat of another one of the famous characters he's currently the boss of, and we can already imagine that bright red lining whipping around magnificently as the Doctor rushes to save the day. Capaldi looks positively crisp in a stark white, fully buttoned dress shirt, dress pants, and a navy cardigan, like a TV businessman who has a mansion and three grown children who should all be doctors (or Doctors?).

We're particularly intrigued by the shiny, wing-tip Doc Martens that complete the ensemble. Whether the heavy footwear is any indication of the new types of adventures this Doctor will be going on is yet to be seen.

Capaldi is also totally wearing a ring on his wedding ring finger, which makes sense given that he's married to multiple women, in multiple timelines, on multiple planets. But he is a 1,500 year old time traveler, so we might be able to forgive him.

What we really love about this photo, though, is Capaldi's stance and furrowed brow. He could be casting a Sabrina-style spell on us, pointing towards a Dalek angrily floating towards us, or, hopefully, he's beckoning towards his next time-traveling, adventure-having companion (spoiler alert: it's us).

"He's woven the future from the cloth of the past," said Capaldi about the ensemble, "Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 percent Rebel Time Lord."

We cannot wait to see this costume in action. Literally. We already took our Tardis (they give those to all the TV reporters) to the future and watched the whole eighth season. It's really fantastic and that red really pops.

As for right now, filming for the eighth season is currently underway in Cardiff with Peter Capaldi and Jenna Louise Coleman, and will premiere on BBC America in late 2014.
