Keith Urban Returning to “American Idol”

"Keith did a great job last year, the fans really liked him," Fox boss Kevin Reilly said of the country star returning for the reality series' 13th season

A familiar face will still be around when "American Idol" returns in January.

Keith Urban is officially set to return to the Fox reality next season, network president Kevin Reilly announced at the 2013 Summer TCA Press Tour on Thursday. The country superstar is the only judge returning for its 13th season, with Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson all exiting the series, as well as executive producers Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick.

Reilly also confirmed that Fox is in talks with Jennifer Lopez, who was a judge for two seasons, to return to the judging table.

"I will confirm one thing that Keith is going to return to the show," Reilly said. "Keith did a great job last year, the fans really liked him. With a new panel, you are going to see that Keith is a really funny guy."

As for the rumors about Lopez's potential return, Reilly would only say, "Jennifer has been a close part of the show all along...there have been discussions there. There is no deal with her or anyone else."

Following the exits of Minaj, Carey and Jackson, Fox was reportedly looking to round up alums to sit at the judges' table, specifically Jennifer Hudson, Adam Lambert and Clay Aiken.

"I can't talk too much about it because we have to continue our yearly tradition of me not being able to say anything about the show," Reilly said of all the judging rumors, but added that they are looking for judges "that are good at the job, that people like and that refocus the attention on the contestants."

Back in June, Urban admitted to E! News that he was unsure if he would be returning to "Idol," saying, "I have no idea! You probably know as much as I do!"

"American Idol" returns for its 13th season in January 2014.
