Lindsay Lohan Replaced by Malin Akerman for “Inferno”

It has appeared Lindsay Lohan’s potential comeback on the silver screen has been dealt a blow.

The actress, who was scheduled to play the late porn actress Linda Lovelace in the upcoming Matthew Wilder-directed film, “Inferno,” has been replaced by "Watchmen" starlet Malin Akerman, E! News reported.

"We are withdrawing our offer from Lindsay Lohan," the director said. "We are currently in negotiations [with Malin Akerman] and working out the legalities of bringing her onboard."

Wilder had previously maintained that Lohan would not be replaced from the production when the actress had her relapse. However, he now said : "We have stuck by Lindsay very patiently for a long time with a lot of love and support. Ultimately, the impossibility of insuring her—and some other issues—have made it impossible for us to go forward."

Lohan is in rehab through the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, Calif., and is required to stay for treatment through Jan. 3.

"Lindsay is dedicated to her recovery and together they decided to move forward without her,” her representative told E! News.

Akerman rose to stardom in romantic comedies "Couples Retreat" as Vince Vaughn's better half and "27 Dresses" as Katherine Heigl's dishonest older sister. She is now filming "Wanderlust" where she leads alongside Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd.
