Car Slams Into East Bay Gas Station, Speeds Away After Injuring Customer

A driver careened into an East Bay gas station Saturday afternoon, injuring one person inside the establishment before speeding off.

Police say the accident happened around 1:15 p.m. near East Loveridge and Leland Roads in Pittsburg when a white, Ford Explorer suddenly lunged forward from its parking spot and crashed through the mini-mart store's window.

One victim reported discomfort and was transported to a nearby hospital, police said.

Police are actively searching for the vehicle and say that the accident is classified as a hit-and-run at this time.
