Collision in Oakland Injures 2 Officers, Civilian: Police

Two officers on Monday were injured in a mangled wreck that temporarily shut down International Boulevard at High Street in Oakland, according to police.

The officers injured in the crash, which occured just before 4 a.m., were responding to a call from another unit that stopped a suspect believed to be involved in a shooting incident, according to police. The police SUV was traveling westbound on International Boulevard when it crossed through an intersection and collided with another car moving southbound on High Street.

The injured officers were transported to the hospital in stable condition, according to police. A civilian involved in the crash was also injured and is in stable condition.

Footage from the scene captured the police SUV with serious damage to its front end and right side as well as a white sedan that had smashed into an unoccupied parked car.

The crash forced the closure of International Boulevard between 44th Avenue and 42nd Avenue as well as High Street between Bancroft Avenue and E. 12th Street, according to police. International Boulevard was reopened around 6:20 a.m.
