Wind Turbines Coming to Crissy Field

Crissy Field blows -- thanks to its wind turbines.

Crissy Field blows. And more power to it.

New wind turbines and an accompanying electric vehicle charging station were unveiled Wednesday at Crissy Field Center by National Park Service officials, according to the San Francisco Appeal online newspaper.

A total of five turbines will soon be installed near the east beach of Crissy Field, the long stretch of grass between the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marina facing the bay. Three went up today, according to reports.

Crissy Field is already a very green spot: the center features a rainwater catchment system as well as a photovoltaic system, the newspaper noted.

Green on, you crazy diamond.
