Sox-Orioles Game Postponed Amid Baltimore Clashes

An announcement about a make-up date was not immediately announced. Fans should keep their tickets.

Monday's baseball game between the Chicago White Sox and the Baltimore Orioles was canceled because of clashes between protestors and police. The epicenter of the protests is less than a mile from the ballpark.

"After consultation with Baltimore City Police Department, tonight’s game between the Orioles & White Sox at Oriole Park has been postponed," the Orioles said in a Tweet at 5:20 p.m.

An announcement about a make-up date was not immediately announced. Fans should keep their tickets, the team said.

About 1,000 fans were inside the stadium when the game was called off, and many gates already had been closed.

At least eight police officers were confirmed to be injured in protests that have heated up in the Liberty Heights area and near a shopping mall in Baltimore on the day of Freddie Gray's funeral.

Gray died a week ago of an unexplained injury while in police custody.
