Home for Halloween: City Shoos “Outsiders” from Castro Party

More than a week to go and the "Halloween Festival" planned at AT&T Park already basically a total failure (read: that shiz ends at 11:30 p.m.). Enter: Home for Halloween, wherein residents are relegated not necessarily to the insides of their houses, but at least to their own "home neighborhoods." The city is pointing to a host of "community events," mostly subject to steep cover prices at the hands of all those sponsors who backed out of the AT&T event. Don't get any wrong ideas, though. The H4H Website assures: "There will be NO Halloween celebration in the Castro in 2008." (Except for Castro "homies"?) But a tip for those hell-bent on taking their public drunkenness on Muni out to Market: unlike last year, bars and shops in the Castro will be open for business next Friday. However, no streets will be blocked off, and traffic will flow "normally."
