30 Years Later: A March and Celebration

Twilight march celebrates life of harvey milk

A concert and a twilight march was held Friday night in San Francisco to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the deaths of Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk, who were assassinated by another supervisor 30 years ago this week.

The event began with the concert on the San Francisco City Hall steps, followed by a twilight march to Milk's camera store on Castro Street.

Speakers at the memorial included family and friends of Milk and Moscone, and a musical portion features the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus, members of the Lesbian/Gay Chorus of San Francisco, the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band and the GLAM Youth Center.

The Harvey Milk Democratic Club, the Alice B. Toklas Democratic Club, the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus and the San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration Committee helped organize the event.
