Ever since Michael Mina (the chef) decided to scale back Michael Mina (the San Francisco restaurant) to five days a week, rumors have been swirling surrounding the four-star flagship. Eater SF recently chatted with Mina himself, who basically laid out the situation at his first restaurant for everyone: the restaurant is not closing, people.
Yes, the original five-year contract with the historic hotel expired, and negotiations went on for a few months, but Michael Mina was never in danger of closing (moving, perhaps, but not closing). Fortunately for everyone involved, the respective parties have worked out a deal and according to Mina, everything is "100% done, signed and [they] could not be happier." So, Michael Mina is still a fixture at the Westin St. Francis.
