Skeletal System Drops New 7″ For Free Ninety-Nine

In last week's review of Play favorite Weekend's debut LP, online tastemaker Pitchfork fulfilled just about every San Francisco band and music blogger's fantasy by claiming our fair city was "quickly threatening to eclipse Brooklyn in the ranks of regional talent." Hey-yo! And as our friends at SF Weekly pointed Friday, this type of love for a San Francisco act is hardly isolated – the site has been simply gushing over our bands for months now.

So it begs the question -- who will be the next local act to get the coveted Pitchfork stamp of approval? Judging from the digital treat they just dropped in our inboxes, local chillers Skeletal System are shaping up as a worthy contender. The two haunting dark-wave tracks on the band's digital 7" hint at the duo growing significantly since the release of their debut EP, which earned its own share of accolades across the blogsphere. While the band tells The Feast they plan to press the physical 7" in the months to come, in the meantime you can snag the two tracks for free on their bandcamp page.
