2 Displaced by Townhouse Fire in San Jose Suffered Minor Smoke Inhalation

Two people were displaced in a one-alarm fire at a San Jose townhouse Tuesday morning, a fire captain said.

A report of a fire at a two-story townhouse in the 1900 block of Messina Drive came in around 1:05 a.m., Capt. Reggie Williams said.

The blaze was found in a second floor unit of the townhouse and under control about an hour later, he said.

A husband and wife who lived in the unit and suffered minor smoke inhalation were treated and released, Williams said.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the husband and wife displaced by the fire, he said.

No other injuries were reported.

The fire did not affect five other units at the townhouse, according to Williams.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
