Activists Working to Bring Back Vallejo's Forgotten Art

A group of community activists in Vallejo are working to bring back what is being called the city's forgotten art.

Downtown Vallejo in the 1960s featured an area known as the Town Square, which was once home to some world-class art and one-of-a-kind pieces designed to symbolize the city's rebirth. But in 2002, the art disappeared when the city decided to redevelop the downtown area again.

And more than a decade later the art pieces are still in a storage, sitting inside wooden crates in a lot on Mare Island.

Doug Darling and a handful of community activists recently discovered the art graveyard and are now working to bring the art back into Vallejo's community.
