Firefighters on Thursday afternoon responded to a brush fire near Interstate 580 in Richmond.
The blaze, reported just east of Bayview Avenue, sent thick, black smoke into the sky and could be seen across the bay in San Francisco.
At around 12:45 p.m., fire crews appeared to have the fire under control.
No other information was immediately available.
