U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris was in the Bay Area this weekend to attend the opening of a California office for her presidential campaign in Oakland.
The campaign notes that Oakland is "where Harris was born and has built a strong support system throughout her life."
Harris, speaking to supporters and campaign staff during the opening, said she has the fight and the moxy to unseat President Trump in 2020.
She also fielded questions about an impeachment fight, as the House Intelligence Committee prepares for whistleblower testimony possibly later in the week.
Meanwhile, the White House questions the whistleblower’s integrity.
"The President of the United States is the whistleblower," said Stephen Miller, White House senior policy adviser, during an interview on Fox News. "And this individual is a saboteur trying to undermine a democratically elected government."
But Harris said the Secretary of State’s insepctor general should be investigating who helped the president’s personal attorney do the president’s bidding with Ukraine officials.
And she said Secretary of State Mike Pompeo should take a seat in the impeachment hearings too.
"Pompeo should be required to be a part of that investigation to figure out what he said, what he knew and what he directed, if anything, Giuliani to do," Harris said.
Harris was joined by U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee at the opening Sunday.
