Residents and workers in Mountain View are invited to weigh in on how the city can update its commercial cannabis laws, according to city officials.

On Feb. 15, the community will gather at City Hall located at 500 Castro St. from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. to discuss code updates that may happen in response to the state's Proposition 64, which was passed in 2016 to legalize recreational adult use of cannabis.

Medicinal and adult-use commercial cannabis activities are currently illegal in Mountain View, city officials said.

Members of the public who live or work in the city can pursue one of two routes to voice their opinions on cannabis regulation: by taking an online survey at www.mountainview.gov/potsurvey or by showing up to the forum in person.

The survey will help the city gather information through the end of this month, according to city officials.

The City Council has directed city staff to develop a permitting and regulatory scheme for commercial cannabis by the end of this year.

More information on Mountain View's cannabis planning efforts is available by visiting www.mountainview.gov/potplanning or calling Clarissa Burke at (650) 903-6306.
