Investigators in Alameda County are looking into the death of a 2-year-old boy in Oakland's Laurel District Friday morning, according to police.
The boy was found unresponsive in a home in the 3600 block of 39th Avenue at about 10:05 a.m., police said.
Officers attempted to resuscitate the child with CPR, and he was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.
Police are calling it an unexplained death, possibly sudden infant death syndrome.
Oakland police homicide investigators responded to the scene and were looking into the death, but the case has been handed over to the county coroner.
The victim has not been identified pending notification of his family.
