Raiders Lose Ugly in Philadelphia

Oakland offense sputters, turns the ball over as Eagles pull out a win in the fourth quarter, 19-10

The Raiders are hobbling toward the finish of this 2017 season.

A season that began with great hopes continues to get worse. On Monday night in Philadelphia, the Raiders fell again, 19-10, to the Eagles. With one game remaining, Oakland is now 6-9 with three straight losses.

In this one, the Raiders had one last chance to pull it out. With a little over a minute remaining from their own 46 with the score tied 10-10, Derek Carr was intercepted at the Eagles 48. From there, Philadelphia marched efficiently down to the Oakland 31, from where Jake Elliott drilled a 48-yard field goal with 27 seconds left for the 13-10 lead.

One last Raiders possession couldn’t produce anything, and on the final play, a bad lateral attempt by Raiders’ receiver Amari Cooper to Jalen Richard was recovered by the Eagles and returned for a touchdown to end the game.

While the Raiders defense played well, the Oakland offense floundered. The Raiders turned the ball over four times in the second half, two on Carr interceptions, and Carr completed just 15-of-29 throws for 40 yards.

The Eagles improve to 13-2 and clinched home-field advantage through the playoffs.

The Raiders will finish their season this coming Sunday in Carson when they take on the host Los Angeles Chargers.
