SF Activist Seeks End to Dog Meat Trade in China

A San Francisco activist is trying to keep dogs from being killed for meat in the Guangdong Province of China.

The San Francisco Examiner reports that Andrea Gung, 55, is actively working to end the practice of killing dogs for meat in China.

Last year in China's Guangxi Province, 10,000 pooches were slaughtered for their meat in the popular Yulin Dog Meat Festival, the newspaper reported.

Gung is organizing a rally on Feb. 19 at San Francisco's Union Square to convince California Gov. Jerry Brown to speak out against eating dog meat, the newspaper reported.
