San Jose Woman Turns 102

She has no secret to her long life.

She's 102 years old and San Jose resident Maria Madrid will make sure you know about it when you meet her.

"I'm 102 years old. I was born in 1910, Sunday April 9 at 9AM", Madrid says with confidence and a smile.

Madrid was born in Toyah, Texas, a small town almost 200 miles east of El Paso. She moved to California when she was two and moved to San Jose more than 50 years ago.

What's her secret to long life?

"I have no secrets," Madrid said. That means good luck to the rest of us.

Madrid's strong genes have been passed down to seven children and hundreds of grand, great-grand, great-great grand, great-great-great grand and great-great-great-great grand children. Yes, we're not kidding!

Just think when Madrid was born, William Howard Taft was President, women didn't have the right to vote and there was no TV, no computer and no Internet.

Happy Birthday to you...Maria Madrid!
